• Waiting for some warm weather….

It’s early November. By now we would usually have happy healthy Dahlia shoots approximately 10cm tall, but unfortunately the October weather wasn’t much of a help. While the days have started warming up, October gave us cold nights (still has -2 degrees in the last week of October with frost!) plus quite a few overcast days, so the tubers haven’t has as much sun and warmth as they need to really get going.

Despite the slow start, all tubers are showing their ‘eyes’ and many starting to pop their little shoots above the soil, so from here is where it gets exciting. With some consistent warmth, these babies grow fast. Being patient is the hard part!!

While waiting for the tubers to get going, about 6 weeks ago we planted our bunnytail grass seeds. Here’s what they look like now. Again, the seedling have been slow to start thanks to the cold nights, but should now take off with some warmth.
