• Fantastic Fruit & Vege….

I have just picked the final mandarin from the tree. I love dwarf fruit trees, which I plant in large half wine barrels. The trees remain at a compact, easily manageable size but still produce a bounty of full-sized fruit.

It was another successful year for our fruit and vegetables which has me eagerly awaiting the next growing season.

For now, it’s time to give the beds a much needed rest, with recovery aided by planting a winter cover crop of legumes and mustard which are chopped and dug back into the soil prior to flowering. This aids in soil conditioning, weed reduction and nitrogen fixation prior to spring planting.
