The extremes of winter and summer can bring out some of the most beautiful colours in our succulents. With many succulents, the brightest colours are often displayed when the plant is in stress (usually from extremes of heat or cold).
These are a few of our seedlings happily tucked away in the greenhouse over winter to protect from the harsh cold wind. My succulent greenhouse door and windows are always open to ensure as much airflow as possible but still protect from the icy winter wind. Humidity is not a friend to most succulents! As soon as the chilly winter temperatures are gone, these babies come out of the greenhouse and into the summer shadehouse.
